Genevieve and her friends discover that Japan’s vampires are a pretty strange crew, very different from the Nosferatu running Britain. So turned back from nearly every port the group end up being granted a kind of asylum in Tokyo’s Yokai Town, which is effectively a prison ghetto for Japan’s own monsters presided over by Lieutenant Majin and the Black Ocean Society. The exiles also include familiar faces from the original Anno Dracula including Sergeant Dravot, Kostaki of the Carpathian Guard and the hero of the narrative Dr Genevieve Dieudonne along some newly acquired characters who I won’t mention as it would spoil all the fun of making their acquaintance for you. It’s 1899 and Prince Dracula has exiled a group of vampires led by Christina Light (One of the plotters from Seven Days in Mayhem) from the British Empire. Hot on the heels of Kim Newman’s collected Anno Dracula 1895: Seven Days in Mayhemcomics comes Anno Dracula One Thousand Monsters.
